ANNUAL RECITAL

A few things to keep in mind…

  • Participating students are invited to arrive 45 minutes prior to the start of the performance to rehearse.  Guests will be asked to remain outside of the school until 15 minutes before the recital begins.  Teachers will be present to help students review music and tune instruments.  All students must bring music, even if performing by memory.  Any student requiring an accompanist other than his/her regular teacher will need to provide a copy of their music for that day to the studio by the end of May.

  • Recitals run approximately two hours including a short intermission.  Small children may find it difficult to remain quiet for this length of time - please know that the Roosevelt School has an adjoining lobby as well as an outdoor playground that you are welcome to use.  We ask that no one enter/leave the hall during a student’s performance.  Please restrict all movement to between student pieces.

  • There is not a specific dress code for the day, however, we do ask all students to dress nicely for the event.  Please consider wearing flat shoes for pianists using the pedal and longer skirts/pants for guitarists as you will be seated near the stage.

  • We ask that every family plan to stay for the entire concert.  Certificates and awards will be presented at the end of the program.  It is important for the final student of the performance to have as much of an audience as the first musician.

  • Personal videos are welcomed.  There will be a seat in the center aisle for guests to move to in order to take videos during the performance.  We will not have a videographer for the day.

  • Students will be seated together in the first few rows marked with a ‘reserved’ sign.  Guest seating is general admission.  Please do not “hold” seats for those who are not present.
