EDUCATION

Students can expect a traditional approach to music education.  Reading music, rhythm, proper technique, and theory are a part of every lesson.  It is our expectation that even the youngest of students is able to practice on a regular basis at home.  Clear assignments will be given at each lesson.  By the use of practice calendars, progress cards and incentives, our instructors monitor each student's education.  Parents of young students are always encouraged to speak with their instructors during the student's lesson time regarding progress and practice expectations, etc.

At the same time, we do understand the importance of working on music that interests a student.  This is especially true of teen/adult students or those with a prior musical background.  We have found it possible to still work with the fundamentals of music reading, theory, etc., in the context of numerous styles of music.  Many of our instructors are open to work on music suggested by the student, as long as it is at an attainable level.

RECITALS
Music 101 is proud to host annual recitals during the month of June for our students to showcase the skills they diligently acquire throughout the year.  Recitals are a great opportunity to become inspired by the music of a student's peer as well.

PRACTICE INCENTIVES
Music 101 uses goal oriented practice incentives to keep our students motivated to continue progressing each week.  A practice goal will be established between student and instructor and must be met 8 consecutive weeks in order to choose an item from our prize basket.  In addition to our prize basket, students are welcomed to choose a sticker from the front desk after each lesson.
